Abstract

The article published in the Justice & Law Journal analyzes the transformations in the Brazilian legal body as a result of the covid-19 pandemic, focusing on the changes in digital law and the protection of personal data, especially in light of the new General Law for the Protection of Personal Data (LGPD). The author points out that the pandemic required legislative and administrative adaptations, emphasizing the importance of a theoretical study that seeks solutions to the new emerging challenges. The research, based on a bibliographic and documentary review, explores the normative changes and their implications, presenting a timeline that illustrates the evolution of the pandemic and the corresponding legislative responses. In addition, the article discusses the emergency measures adopted by companies, civil liability in cases of data breaches, the sanctions provided for in the LGPD, and the importance of data protection education. The author concludes that legislative changes were essential to address the emergency, but that new changes will continue to shape Brazilian legislation in a lasting way, offering a critical and comprehensive analysis of the transformations in digital law in response to the pandemic.
